Exploratory Trip Update |
 |
 |

Since 1983 Eddie Frank and
Dr. Laurance Doyle
have been running research expeditions in
Africa. These two enquiring fellows have made groundbreaking
discoveries on the astronomy of ancient African peoples.
They have also run exciting trips to the
remote corners of Zambia, Australia and Ghana to witness three
of the last four solar eclipses.
What makes their trips so exciting is that Eddie designs an incredible
cultural and wilderness experience around the eclipse, while Dr. Doyle
focuses our attention on everything above the tree canopy. |

Dr. LAURANCE DOYLE
is an astrophysicist who currently conducts research at the
SETI INSTITUTE
in California. Prior to joining the SETI team,
Dr. Doyle worked as an astronomer at NASA in the Space Sciences
Division for 18 years.

When he was six years old, his dad gave him a map of
the solar system. He was surprised when he found
out that the stars are really suns.
He remembers his thoughts shifting
away from the earth to space. He never came back
to earth. That's when he knew
he would be an astronomer.

EDDIE FRANK
is a veteran safari guide, and has been exploring
Africa and leading expeditions for the past 30 years.
Born and raised in Africa, Eddie spent nine years
making a living as a professional photographer.

After a wild bet with some friends, he made his first Africa crossing when
he was 24. Eddie then founded the Tusker Trail & Safari Company.
Since then has crossed the Sahara Desert 34
times, and climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro 30 times. In
between Eclipse trips, Eddie climbs Kilimanjaro 4-5 times a year. |
