You will fly into Dar es Salaam where you will catch a ride with Eddie's friend, Moses Poppe down to Iringa. Eddie and the crew will meet you there, where we spend our first night camping at a friend's farm, and going over the plans for the trip ahead.
Then we'll head west to Ruaha National Park for a few days. Ruaha is one of the finest National Parks in Africa - Eddie and Tusker Trail have spent the last 20 years exploring this great reserve. We'll spend a few days here tracking the wildlife on game drives, before we exit the park to the west, through remote bush, camping at beautiful spots along the way.
We'll bushwhack slowly across to Katavi National Park, a rarely visited pristine game reserve with fantastic wildlife - and Tanzania's best kept secret. We discovered this spectacular park on our 2002 expedition. It's one of the most fantastic and remote parks we have ever encountered. We then range south, down the Rift Valley, past Lake Rukwa towards Mbeya, through the Kipengere Hills, and on towards Lake Malawi. Evening find us camping on the wild white beaches, a hidden paradise in the Rift Valley. Malawi's magnificent wooded mountains, wide-open plains and the Lake - the third largest in Africa - make it one of Africa's magnificent hideouts. Chief Muhango in Chiweta village is an old and trusted friend of ours. With his permission we usually get to attend rarely seen traditional tribal ceremonies. We finally arrive in Lilongwe, after a journey well done, and celebrate the completion of our expedition in true Tusker style.
