Only with Tusker Trail's professional guides will you be able to immerse yourself in one of the most beautiful and strikingly diverse habitats on our planet. And only with Tusker's highly skilled guides will you trek to extreme altitude with the assurance that each one of them has undergone the most rigorous and comprehensive medical training available.
 Eddie Frank
Eddie Frank, Tusker Trail's founder, was born and raised in Africa, and has been leading Kilimanjaro climbs for 29 years. Since his first climb in 1977, he has climbed Kilimanjaro 28 times. Eddie has since built Tusker Trail into the most experienced and qualified trekking company on Kilimanjaro.
Eddie's mission has been to build Tusker's 18 guides into the finest medically qualified guiding team on the mountain. Here's how he has done it. Together with Sue Purvis, a medical instructor from Wilderness Medical Associates, Eddie has designed an intensive 6-day course on mountain medicine, emergencies and rescue. Only Tusker guides are permitted to take the course, and each of them must pass this course annually as a precondition for their ongoing employment. This is first and only medical certification course specifically designed for guides on Kilimanjaro.
 Saimon Minja
Saimon is 35 years old and is now in his 6th year guiding for Tusker Trail. His father was also a mountain guide. He is our Chief Senior Guide, and works very closely with Eddie in training our new guides. With Eddie, Saimon leads most of our large charity fundraising climbs.
 Thobias Meela
"Tobi" has been leading Tusker climbs for the past 9 years, and along with Saimon, is one of Tusker's senior guides. Highly respected by the hundreds of other Kilimanjaro guides, Tobi is known as the strong silent type. He knows Kilimanjaro better than most other guides put together.
Augustine Ndoringo
In February 2004, Eddie was leading a climb for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. At the time, "Augie" was working for Kilimanjaro National Parks on the rescue team. Eddie recognized a born leader, and hired him. Augie is the friendliest guide on Kili, and one of our top guides.
 Nemes Meela
Nemes has a reputation for "dancing" up Kilimanjaro. He's very quiet, but once you get to know him, you'll find that he has a wealth of knowledge about Kilimanjaro and the Chagga culture.
Elias Massawe
Elias has been working for Tusker as one of our Senior guides for 6 of his 11 years as a guide. He is one of the most respected guides on the mountain, with superb leadership qualities. Eddie climbs with Elias regularly.
 Eliakimu Mashanga
Eliakimu is 26 years old. He worked for Tusker for 2 years as a porter whenEddie recognized his potential. Eddie, who made his own living as a professional photographer many years ago, also saw Eliakimu's natural talent as a photographer. So he is now Tusker's official webcast photographer on our charity climbs.
