TRAVEL & CREW
We will be traveling in Russian Furgan vans, 4 people to a vehicle. There is plenty of room in the vans for your gear. In addition, there will be 2 supply vehicles, which carry all of our camp gear and food. Our crew will consist of up to 16 people, depending on the size of the group, and includes: Esther Jacobson-Tepfer; Gary Tepfer; Eddie Frank; Amy Frank; a local guide; camp chef; 3 camp assistants; 4-7 drivers (depending on the group size.)

DAILY DRILL
We generally focus our time in the field around the best light for photography, as well as the weather. Typically we’ll be out in the early morning for 3-4 hours, and then in the afternoon for 3-4 hours, focusing on the early morning and late afternoon light.

SLEEPING
You will be sleeping in a 4-season weatherproof tent, two people to a tent. If you prefer to stay alone, you may pay a single-supplement. (Single accommodation is not available at the Ger Camp in Bayan Ulgii. It will only be available in UB and while camping.)
Trip members will be asked to erect their own tents. If you have no experience, we have a large friendly crew happy to assist you. You must bring your own sleeping mattress and sleeping bag. (We can advise you on these.)

DINING
Meals will be taken in a civilized fashion, around a dining table in our large weatherproof dining tent, which also serves as our “workshop room”, and to which we refer as our “cave”. Our chef is from Tanzania, and has been working as a Kilimanjaro mountain chef for Tusker Trail for the past 12 years. He travels to Mongolia regularly to cook on our treks and expeditions. You will enjoy 3 full meals daily.

SHOWERS & TOILETS
We will provide solar showers with cold water. If it’s sunny, you can lay the bags out in the sun to warm up the water. You will enjoy your toilet experience with one of the best views in central Asia. It is a sit-down toilet placed over a slit-trench, under a shelter.

HOTEL & GER-CAMP ACCOMMODATION
In UB we will be staying at the comfortable Bayan Gol hotel. It is a very comfortable centrally located hotel, with extremely friendly staff, and rooms with AC and electricity that works. We have been putting our groups up at this hotel for the past 5 years.
In Bayan Ulgii we will stay at the Eagle Ger camp in traditional Mongolian Kazakh Gers. You may have heard them called “yurts”. That’s Russian for “ger”. The Ger Camp is very basic, but very comfortable. It has electricity and a common building for showers and toilets. It is located on the Khovd River, 15 minutes by car from Bayan Ulgii.
