THE WILD

Encounter the great heards, and travel back to the beginnings of time - on a traditional wildlife safari.

Tusker's Tanzania Lodge Safari is a spectacular journey through some of East Africa's premier wildlife reserves.

While exploring the unique habitats of Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire National Park and the Serengeti, we stay at some of the
classic wildlife lodges and luxury tented camps of East Africa.

HISTORY OF THE AFRICAN SAFARI

The African Safari was born at the turn of the century when the Europeans came out to Africa to hunt big game. Back then, on a typical wildlife safari, the safari members would set up their mobile safari camps in the middle of the bush, and track the wildlife on foot. In the 1930's, Ernest Hemingway wrote a lot about the African safari in his novels.

As time went by, Tanzania became a destination for the big game photographer in search of the African adventure of the old days. The rustic character of the tented camp of the original safari has been preserved, without sacrificing comfort. Nowadays, a typical Trek Tanzania incorporates stopovers at permanent safari lodges as well as tented safari camps.

Although seasonal movements of the wildlife can be unpredictable, Tusker Trail locates our mobile-tented camps in the areas where we anticipate the best game viewing for a particular time of year.
