WHY TUSKER TRAIL
BECAUSE EXPERIENCE MATTERS. Tusker Trail's global treks started on the slopes of Kilimanjaro back in 1977, when Tusker's founding guide, Eddie Frank "discovered" Kilimanjaro on his first trans-Africa expedition. Since that first encounter he has led 52 climbs up the mountain and built Tusker Trail's rock-solid reputation around those climbs.
Eddie has personally trained all our seasoned guides. Being a Tusker guide can be a family tradition, passed down to the next generation in the family. Some of our guides have over 20 years with Tusker Trail, having led thousands climbers while racking up hundreds of personal summits.
Tusker Trail was founded on 44 years of adventure. The dictionary describes ADVENTURE as: a bold, usually risky undertaking; hazardous action of uncertain outcome. Back in the 70s Eddie Frank first set out across Africa in his army surplus Land Rover. Eddie crosses Africa a lot, including 33 times across the Sahara Desert. These expeditions were truly a bold, with lots of risk and hazardous action of uncertain outcome.
Here he leads 16 adventurers in a 6-ton truck across the Congo River on a barge, built out of three canoes roped together.
Back in the day that was the appeal.
TODAY you will find Tusker Guides leading those seeking adventure all across the globe, on Mount Kilimanjaro, The Mongolian Wilderness, Greenland and the stunning Mount Everest Base Camp.
