Chile is a spectacular country situated along the west coast of South America, and is twelve times longer than it is wide. In size it is 2,671 miles long (4,300 km) and 217 miles wide (350 km) and makes up for its very narrow shape with its breathtaking landscapes.
There are the Andes mountain range in the east and the Pacific Ocean in the west. Throw in some wildlife, the Valdivian temperate rain forest, the Atacama desert, dramatic mountains and glaciers in the south, and you have one of the most mind-blowing places on earth.
If you have adventure in your DNA, then a trek through Patagonia is an absolute must.
We explore Chile's dramatic Torres del Paine national park by zodiac and on foot; then head for Argentina, where we embark on full-day hikes with up-front views of the Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre ranges - as well as the Perito Moreno Glacier at Los Glaciares National Park.
Without question, Patagonia is one of the truly great places on earth.
