6 REASONS TO JOIN THE KILIMANJARO CLIMB FOR VALOR
The Kilimanjaro Climb for Valor is Tusker’s newest and most unique charity climb. Here’s 6 reasons it will be a climb like no other:
1. THE CAUSE:
Supporting American wounded soldiers, as well as the families of fallen American soldiers. For Tusker’s founder Eddie Frank, fundraising for this cause was an idea whose time had come, if only because historically, dating back to the Revolutionary War, this country has been quick to lionize its soldiers for bravery in battle, but after the smoke has cleared, surprisingly cheap in caring for them.
With an initial goal of $100,000, 100% of the money raised on the Climb for Valor in February 2015 goes to the Duskin & Stephens Foundation, a non-profit, all volunteer charity for Special Forces soldiers, past and present, and their families. The group has deep respect and credibility within the tight-knit Special Forces community.
2. THE CLIMBERS:
- 2 U.S. Special Forces veterans, injured in the line of duty.
- 3 wives of soldiers who have fallen.
- Tom Bochnowski, former Navy Seal, and the head of Ripcord, Tusker’s key safety and emergency response partners.
- World-renowned Wilderness Medicine and ER doc at Stanford, Dr. Avinash Patil.
3. THE GUIDES:
Eddie Frank, founder and owner of Tusker Trail, leading his 51st Kili climb.
Tusker’s all-star guiding team, Simon Minja, Urio Senaeli & Kombe Happyfrais.
4. THE ROUTE:
The Climb for Valor follows a rarely traveled route which circumnavigates the entire mountain. Starting on the western slopes of Kilimanjaro, the group traverses the untouched northern slopes and descends the southeastern side of the mountain. The views are spectacular.
5. SPECIAL GUEST:
Eddie’s bringing the ashes of his late father and WWII veteran, Mike Frank. They’ll climb together for the last time.
6. YOU:
This is the perfect chance to walk your talk, alongside others that do – February 15-26, 2015.
The Kilimanjaro Climb for Valor is an unforgettable 12 day adventure.
