COMBINE A KILIMANJARO CLIMB WITH AN AFRICAN SAFARI

COMBINE A KILIMANJARO CLIMB WITH AN AFRICAN SAFARI

Have some vacation time coming up? Make it special and climb Kilimanjaro! Reaching the summit of the world’s highest free-standing mountain is immensely gratifying, and what you’ll see and learn along the way is nothing short of amazing.

Kilimanjaro climb

Since you’re traveling halfway around the world, why not make the most of it and take a safari after your climb. Mount Kilimanjaro is within close proximity of several world-class National Parks in Northern Tanzania. This won’t be your average holiday.

What to Expect on a Kili Hike and Safari

Quality accommodations, good company, and unforgettable experiences are what you can expect when you combine a Kilimanjaro climb with an African Safari. Adventure travel in Tanzania brings individuals, families, and couples to the revered plains of Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti.

Safari sunset

The Kilimanjaro climb itself can be a life-changing event, but combining it with an African Safari makes the trip something truly magical. Hikers are able to visit Maasai villages and stand on one of the highest points on earth. You encounter predator and prey on the plains; freezing glaciers and jaw-dropping views on the mountain.

Exotic Wildlife in Tanzania

Your Tanzanian guides have an encyclopedic knowledge of the areas they explore. Whether climbing up Kilimanjaro or game driving through the Serengeti, you will learn a lot about Tanzania’s endemic species. On a climb up Kilimanjaro, you may spot tree hyraxes, colobus monkeys, and agama lizards, as well as Hartlaub’s turacos and other wildlife.

Wildlife Safari (1)

Tusker’s Wildlife Safari extensions are the ideal way to view game, including the Big Five – lions, elephants, buffalo, leopard, and rhino. Additionally, you can see secretary birds, bushbuck, zebra, and wildebeest. Your East African safari will take you through thousands of square miles that provide nesting areas for various species of bird, including Spurfowl, the Pemba green pigeon, Loveridge’s sunbird, and Speke’s weaver.

Serengeti National Park

The complex Serengeti ecosystem is the place to experience the powerful rhythm of wildebeest migrating. Over a million of these animals pound bravely through waters infested with crocodiles and emerge to continue the cycle of life every mating season. It is an awe-inspiring sight. The Serengeti is also known for its many lions. In fact, this is one of the best places to view prides in their natural environment.

Ngorongoro Crater

The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest caldera. It is densely populated by wildlife. Expect to see lions, leopards, and hyenas, as well as jackals and rare black rhino. Ngorongoro is the home of the Maasai. Several tribes welcome visitors to their villages to learn more about their culture and lifestyle. You can go on a walking safari with warriors and sip chai brewed in the traditional Maasai way.

Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park, which gets its name from the Tarangire River, is Tanzania’s sixth largest park and offers a diverse landscape. The park is well known for its termite mounds, many Baobab trees, and large number of elephants. Giraffe and tree-climbing lions are common here, too, as are olive baboons, buffalo, warthogs, and gazelle. On game drives, you will also see zebra, wildebeest, and masked lovebirds.

Lake Manyara National Park

Bird watchers love Lake Manyara National Park. It is home to over 400 types of birds, many of which are present throughout the year. Pelicans, white-necked cormorants, and yellow-billed storks are easy to spot, and flamingos can be seen flocking by the thousands during the rainy seasons. Bird life aside, a variety of creatures can be observed, including hippos, blue monkeys, impalas, and tree lions.

Arusha National Park

In a rush to get back? You can still fit in some wildlife viewing at Arusha National Park, which is located at the base of the second highest peak in Tanzania, Mount Meru. Here, many types of animals roam free, including buffalo, zebra, monkeys, warthogs, flamingos, and waterbuck. The fertile landscape is also home to a large giraffe population and boasts rich forests, grasslands, and swamps.
