We stay in comfortable, simple lodges along the ancient Khumbu trails. Our Sherpa cooking crew prepares sumptuous meals meticulously planned before each trek by Tusker head guide & partner, Amy Frank together with our Nepali cook, Shiri.

Nepal has a population of over 26 million people, consisting of over 40 different tribes. However, most of the people you will meet on your trek in the Khumbu Valley are Sherpas. “Sherpa” means people of the east in the Tibetan language.
Originally from Tibet 500 years ago, the Sherpas share a close affinity with the Tibetan culture; it’s language and religion of Buddhism.
Since Edmund Hilary first scaled Mt. Everest in 1953, tourism in the Khumbu valley has grown immensely. Many industrious Sherpas have set up small cafes, teahouses and hotels in the Khumbu.
On our trek we stay at some quaint and cozy hotels owned by local families, where Tusker Trail’s cooks travel alongside us and prepare all of our meals.
