Eddie Frank, Tusker's founder, is a high altitude expert, and Wilderness First Responder. Amy Frank is a W-EMT. Eddie's vision has been to build the safest and most reliable company on Kilimanjaro. A few years ago he designed an intense high altitude medical course - specifically for Tusker's expert guides. Each year Tusker's 18 guides must pass this demanding 50-hour course, led by Eddie & Amy Frank.

Eddie Frank, Tusker's founder, has climbed Kilimanjaro 40 times since his first climb in 1977. He continues to lead our large climbs. By doing so, Eddie maintains close contact with our ground operation in Tanzania and keeps informed about local conditions.

He has personally handpicked each of our expert Tanzanian guides for their leadership qualities and group skills. Eddie is a medical professional, and trains the guides once a year in an intensive 50-hour High Altitude Medical course. Your safest and best choice is to climb with the most experienced company on Kilimanjaro.

The logistics and details that go into organizing your actual climb are vast and exacting. During thirty-three years of climbing Kilimanjaro, Tusker has assembled its crack Tanzanian team whose only job is to plan and execute a perfect climb.

All other companies use one head guide regardless of the group size. With smaller groups our climber-to-guide ratio is 2-1. With larger groups our climber-to-guide ratio is 5-to-1.

This makes your climb much safer and much more enjoyable.

With the amount of effort that we put into the quality of our guide training and logistics, we spare absolutely no expense when it comes to our camp gear and our emergency medical equipment.
