Your Elite Guiding Team

Your guides are the heart and soul of your adventure, from the moment you sign up until the day you return. Their long experience climbing Kilimanjaro, meticulous medical training and expert leadership are the secrets to the success of your climb. Tusker’s founder, EDDIE FRANK was brought in to train the US Army’s Special Forces at high altitude. Using the same techniques, he meticulously trained Tusker’s team of elite mountain guides who are all high altitude experts and have led thousands of successful climbers to the summit.

Climbing Kilimanjaro Safely

When you climb with Tusker, you’re in the best hands on the mountain. The guides leading the way were all born and raised on the slopes of Kilimanjaro, so they know the mountain like the backs of their hands. Decades of working for Tusker have honed their skills, and you climb with the assurance knowing that every guide is at the top of their game. These experts in mountain habitat will lead you on an adventure that will leave you with memories to last a lifetime and may even change the way you look at the world.

Safety is their top priority, and your guides will give you a thorough medical examination twice a day and keep a close eye on you as you climb to make sure you’re adjusting well to the altitude. They’ll be by your side every step of the way, offering strategies and advice to help you reach the summit. Depending on the size of your group, you’ll have a team of up to 6 expert guides, and if you’re climbing solo, you’ll have your very own personal guide.

Tusker’s climb up Kilimanjaro is a challenge that requires hikers to be in top physical form. Although people of all ages, from 10 to 75, have climbed it. The terrain is rugged and steep and you will be exposed to the elements as you ascend from 6,000 to 19,341 feet over multiple days. On a typical day, you can expect to hike for up to 8 hours, and summit day can be a total of 12-14 hours. The daily gains and losses in altitude can be significant, and the weather can be quite unpredictable. Previous experience with similar hikes is strongly recommended.
