Seventeen years ago, when Eddie Frank led his anti-poaching mission through the grasslands of Kafue National Park, there were less than 1,000 tourists visiting Kafue each year. Today, over 7,000 visitors enter the park annually, and the elephant are back, no longer terrified by the sight of humans. In Kafue, the tide is slowly turning.

RETURN TO KAFUE PART I

Tusker founder Eddie Frank organized an anti-poaching mission in Kafue National Park, Zambia’s oldest and largest park, in the summer of 1994.

During the mission, Eddie and his team were shot at many times as they worked to confiscate illegal ivory and meat, and catch government officials red-handed in the game. Their fearlessness made them local legends.
