You can climb this route in 11 or 12 days. It is a slightly longer route, which allows you to acclimatize to the altitude. It also gives you extra time to enjoy the spectacular mountain environment. Lemosho is not highly traveled as it is longer, and therefore costs a bit more, but is one of the more scenic routes up Kilimanjaro.
This route, which approaches from the west, takes you full 180 degrees around the peak, exposing you the incredible variety of landscapes, which differ from the west to the east. On the 12-day climb, we prefer to summit during daylight hours to enjoy the views, the warmer weather, and to avoid the crowds in the early morning gathering at the summit. On the 12-day climb we sleep in the crater after summiting, which very few people do. It’s pure magic up there in the crater. On the 11-day climb, we start our summit ascent early, and we do not sleep in the crater, but head straight down after summiting.
